The tastiest dates of the summer are literally just around the corner. Taste of London returns to Regent’s Park starting next week from June 16th – 19th. The 2011 lineup of the foodie festival boasts eleven Michelin stars and 40 restaurants participating in total. This year’s event will also feature cooking demos from the likes of Tom Aikens and appearences by Michel Roux Jr, Silvena Rowe and Chris Galvin in the new Secret Garden as well as the British BBQ Championships.
The AEG Taste Theatre is the main draw, with cooking demonstrations from a collection of chefs that all have Michelin-star experience. You can then wander around and sample amazing dishes from some of London’s best restaurants.
Other highlights include La Patisserie Peugeot, where those with a sweet tooth can indulge themselves with demonstrations of some truly stunning pastries, and the Taste of Jamaica theatre, featuring innovative restaurants and tempting market stalls.
The official currency of the Taste festival are crowns with he average dish at Taste of London is 8-10 Crowns (£4-5). Servings are tapas-sized – large enough for the chefs to display their skills and ingredients, but small enough to let you try more than a few dishes. look out for the “Crowns accepted here” signs on their stands. You can purchase Crowns online by visiting here, or at one of the three Crown Banks at the event. Plus, look out for the roaming Crown sellers in pink T-shirts who will be selling them around the site.
