Good Food Guide Scam

The Good Food Guide is warning restaurants of a scam in which a company is offering establishments inclusion in the guide in return for a fee.
According to Caterer and Hotelkeeper, the guide has been alerted to letters being sent out to restaurants from an organisation called “Good Food Guide Limited” asking restaurants to pay to be featured in the 2012 edition of the guide,
Angela Newton, publisher of The Good Food Guide, commented: “We have no association with the letters some restaurants may have received recently from ‘Good Food Guide Limited’ asking for payment for inclusion in the ‘Good Food Guide’ and are investigating the matter. If you have received one of these letters it has not come from us.”
She added: “We never ask restaurants for money to feature in the guide and our criteria for inclusion is the same as it always has been – it is based on feedback from our readers and anonymous inspections.”
Restaurants can not elect or pay to be included in The Good Food Guide; entry into the annual guide is based on feedback it receives from members of the public along with a team of anonymous inspectors eating in restaurants around the country.
The Good Food Guide is urging any establishment which receives one of these letters to email its editors.
